Crazy Advertisements, Part I

One of my favorite activities for writing descriptive paragraphs is "Crazy Advertisements". In this activity, I ask the students to dream up an imaginary product and create a print advertisement of it--complete with drawings and text. "The crazier, the better," I tell my students. They will then present their products in class and persuade everyone to buy their product. This is far from their usual writing assignments in their English subjects.

For the first installment of "crazy advertisements", I will be featuring creative appliances--whose use we never even dreamed about.

The “Multipliance” is a energy-saving appliance that includes a television, a DVD player, a radio with recorder AND a refrigerator! “No more stress or depress[ion]!”

The “Food Machine” can produce any food that you want. Just type the name of the food, add water, and voila! Just like a Star Trek replicator. (We’ll be featuring food-related products in the future.)

No one has ever thought of putting an electric fan and a WiFi router in one product. The stronger the fan is, the wider the signal. What is cooler than chilling out in front of an air fan while surfing the Net?

The “Multi-Boom” is a home entertainment system and refreshment stand in one. It sports a radio, LED TV with touchscreen, voice control…and WiFi! It has a water dispenser for cold water or making hot drinks. And the TV opens revealing a microwave oven to make some popcorn!

Have trouble getting up in the morning? The “Punctual Punch” will not only ring an alarm for you but also give you a well-placed punch in the face. No more excuses not getting out of bed. You will never be tardy again!

This is not Doctor Who’s time-traveling TARDIS. This is a “Body Sculptor Machine” which will give you the body that you’ve always wanted…at the touch of a button. So much easier than dieting and self-control.
